Ank Mazure is an independent consultant who graduated from Leiden Medical School in The Netherlands in 1990. She subsequently spent over 3 years at the Institute of Ophthalmology (Moorfields Eye Hospital) in London researching specific mechanisms of retinal detachment, resulting in a PhD in 1993. Miss Mazure returned to the Netherlands and continued her higher specialist training in ophthalmology at the Nijmegen Academic Medical Centre from 1993 to 1997. Once this was completed she returned to the UK where she held a post for 8 years at The Croydon Eye Unit, Mayday Hospital. Miss Mazure is a Consultant Ophthalmologist trained in all aspects of general and primary care ophthalmology. She is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology
