Epsomedical is only able to accept referrals for patients aged 18 and over.
Epsomedical provides a Lower Limb service at each of Cobham and Epsom in association with the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). This is the principal elective orthopaedic centre for all of SW London and parts of Surrey, based on the Epsom General Hospital campus.
All hip, knee and ankle conditions can be referred in to the Lower Limb service. Patients requiring arthroscopic procedures on the knee will be treated at our units: other procedures, including hip and knee replacements will be carried out at SWLEOC, or at Ashtead hospital. All other aspects of the patient’s care will normally be organised and delivered at our units.
X ray facilities are available at both Cobham and Epsom and are normally made available alongside appointments with specialists.
The NHS is increasingly restricting access to surgery. Patients with symptoms warranting referral to our Lower Limbs service will normally require to be sent initially to a physiotherapy-led MSK service run by Surrey Downs CCG to explore exhaustively the conservative treatment options. After referral to our units, surgery will be dependent on the patient’s symptoms meeting thresholds specified by the local NHS.
Please refer to the separate description of our Foot Surgery service for conditions relating to the forefoot.
